Tuesday, September 01, 2026 - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Dr. Oburu Odinga, has been hospitalised in Nairobi for the past three days. The Kenyan DAILY POST can authoritatively confirm.
According to sources within ODM, the 82‑year‑old Siaya Senator was admitted on Sunday, August 30, with doctors citing severe fatigue and recommending rest.
While the exact cause of his hospitalisation has not been
disclosed, family members are reportedly considering flying him to the United
Kingdom for specialised treatment.
Insiders further revealed that access to Dr. Odinga has been restricted, with only close relatives permitted to visit.
Political allies and fellow leaders have been turned away,
underscoring the family’s tight control over his condition.
Dr. Odinga was last seen in public on Saturday, August 29, playing golf, where he appeared in high spirits in images shared online.
His sudden hospitalisation has therefore raised questions
about when his health began to deteriorate.
The development comes at a sensitive time for ODM, which is grappling with internal divisions.
One faction, led by Senator Edwin Sifuna, opposes the party’s broad‑based arrangement with
President William Ruto’s administration, while Dr. Odinga has been a vocal
supporter of the cooperation.
