Tuesday, August 18, 2026 - Police in Uasin Gishu County are holding one suspect after intercepting a suspicious Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and recovering two safe boxes containing millions of shillings in both local and foreign currency.
According to a police report, the operation began on August
10, 2026, when officers flagged down a motor vehicle with registration number KCL
573Q, a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, in the Sugunanaga area of Kesses
Sub-County.
The vehicle was impounded and taken to Sugunanaga Police
Station, where two safe boxes were recovered from within.
However, due to the
sensitivity of the matter, officers waited until August 17, 2026, to conduct a
formal exercise to open and examine the contents of the boxes.
Upon opening the two safe boxes in the presence of Crime
Scene Investigators (CSI) from Uasin Gishu County, the following items were
recovered: Ksh 2.615 million and US dollar notes whose total amount is yet to
be confirmed,
One suspect, identified as Grayson Buchichi Isihau, has
been arrested in connection with the case.
He is currently being held as investigations continue.
Police have confirmed that the suspect will be presented
before the Eldoret Law Courts upon completion of investigations.
A further follow-up report will be submitted once the CBK
issues its findings on the authenticity of the recovered currencies.
Interestingly, the key suspect arrested has
expressed an interest in an elective seat in the 2027 general elections.
Described by those who know him as a "sharp boy," Grayson Buchichi Isihau is said to have been actively positioning himself for an MP seat before his arrest.
