Thursday, August 6, 2026 - CCTV footage has captured the moment a suspected thief disguised as a boda boda rider snatched a mobile phone from an unsuspecting man along Chiromo Lane in Westlands, highlighting growing concerns over street crime.

The footage shows the victim standing by the roadside while using his phone, seemingly unaware that he was being watched by the suspect.

Seconds later, the rider approached on a motorbike, swiftly grabbed the phone from the man's hand, and sped off before the victim could react.

The suspect was wearing a helmet that concealed his face, making him difficult to identify.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over the rising cases of phone snatching in Nairobi, with criminals increasingly posing as legitimate boda boda riders to target unsuspecting members of the public.
