Kenya records 16 Centi Millionaires as the ultra-wealthy class continues to expand - See the list of top 10 richest people in Kenya!

Monday, April 20, 2026
- Kenya is home to at least 16 individuals whose fortunes exceed Ksh12 billion (about USD100 million), placing them among Africa’s elite “centi‑millionaires,” according to the 2025 Africa Wealth Report by Henley & Partners in partnership with New World Wealth.

The report, which tracks private wealth trends across the continent, notes that while Kenya has no U.S‑dollar billionaires, its ultra‑wealthy class continues to expand steadily.

This growth reflects deeper capital accumulation in key sectors such as banking, manufacturing, agriculture, real estate and retail.

Kenya currently boasts about 6,800 millionaires (individuals worth over USD1 million or Ksh129 million) alongside the 16 centi‑millionaires, cementing its position as one of Africa’s leading wealth hubs.

Regionally, Kenya ranks first in East Africa and fifth across the continent, ahead of Ghana and Namibia but behind South Africa, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria.

Nairobi remains the epicenter of wealth, accounting for nearly half of Kenya’s private wealth and over 60 percent of all millionaires.

Affluent suburbs like Karen and Muthaiga continue to attract high‑net‑worth individuals, while coastal hubs such as Mombasa are projected to draw more investors in the coming decade.

The report highlights resilience in Kenya’s wealth creation, with the millionaire population growing by 14 percent between 2015 and 2025 despite global economic shocks.

Across Africa, however, overall wealth contracted slightly, with 122,500 millionaires, 348 centi‑millionaires, and 25 billionaires recorded.
