Veteran gospel singer JIMMY GAIT reveals how real life moments inspired his biggest songs ‘Muhadhara’ and ‘Huratiti’

Tuesday, February 17, 2026 - Veteran gospel singer, Jimmy Gait, has opened up about the everyday experiences that shaped two of his most iconic hits, Muhadhara and Huratiti.

In a candid interview with a local YouTuber, Jimmy recalled how Muhadhara was born during a routine matatu ride.

“When I was going home, I was in a matatu, then I told the conductor, ‘Hey nisimamishe kwa hiyo stage next.’ Then he shouts to the driver, ‘Dere dere simamisha haraka tusipatwe na muhadhara.’

“Hiyo jina muhadhara ikaniingia, and that is how I came up with that song ‘Muhadhara,’” he revealed.

Jimmy admitted he prayed for the track to become a nationwide hit.

“I was praying that Muhadhara would become the biggest song in the country.”

“I started doing research on the biggest songs that were hitting at that time,” he said. His producer even assured him the song was destined for greatness.

Yet success came with challenges.

“When I did the song, the producer told me this is going to be the biggest song; however, as big as it was, I was going through something, and I did not have money.”

“I could not afford to pay rent, and I was kicked out and went back to the village for nine months,” Jimmy shared.

He recalled being in Nyeri when his brother called to say the song was selling everywhere.

The virality shocked him, proving how far his music had reached.

Reflecting on his second hit, Huratiti, Jimmy explained that it was born from personal struggles.

“I freestyled Huratiti. I went to the studio, the producer gave me headphones, I closed my eyes, and I remembered my past struggles,” he said.
