Friday, February 6, 2026 - There was brief drama during the Nyota Programme at Jomo Kenyatta Grounds in Mombasa after a young man appeared to breach President William Ruto’s security and dash towards the podium.
In a video circulating online, the man is seen running
towards the stage just as President Ruto was concluding his speech, seemingly
catching officers from the Presidential Escort Unit off guard.
Security personnel quickly moved in to contain the
situation.
However, the President is heard urging the officers to
remain calm before interacting with the man.
Ruto asked for his name and shared a light moment with him,
later directing that he be seated at the VIP section and promising to speak
with him after the event.
The unusual incident has since sparked mixed reactions on
social media, with some users questioning how the man managed to bypass tight
security and suggesting the moment may have been stage-managed.
