11, 2026 - Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has spoken out
defiantly following his removal from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)
National Executive Committee (NEC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 11th,
Amisi alleged that the changes were calculated to edge out leaders unwilling to
align with President William Ruto.
“They are testing the ground to remove everyone not
supporting Ruto. You know who is next!”
“I gladly become the first casualty! We shall not relent.
History will judge us fairly,” he declared.
His ouster comes amid growing rebellion within ODM, with
youthful legislators such as Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino, and Secretary
General Edwin Sifuna rallying behind a faction dubbed Linda
Mwananchi.
The group has openly opposed ODM’s collaboration with Ruto’s
United Democratic Alliance (UDA), arguing that the partnership undermines the
party’s independence and grassroots agenda.
Meanwhile, ODM Party Leader, Oburu Odinga, has cautioned
dissenters that while minority opinions are respected, the party’s democratic
principles ultimately favour majority decisions.
He criticized leaders who publicly contradict ODM positions
despite being NEC members, stressing that the council remains the party’s
supreme decision‑making organ.
“If you have anything you disagree with, NEC is the forum to
raise those issues and let members decide. Once the members have decided and
you fall into the minority, the minority will have their right to say, and the
majority will have their way,” Oburu stated.
He further emphasized ODM’s focus on rebuilding itself into
a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 elections, clarifying that while
the party has a pact with UDA under the broad‑based Government, it is not
automatic that the arrangement will evolve into an electoral coalition.
