OBURU OGINGA issues stern warning to SIFUNA, BABU OWINO and other ODM rebels - “You Will Have Your Say, But We Will Have Our Way”

Wednesday, February 11, 2026 - ODM Party Leader, Oburu Odinga, has sent a strong message to dissenting voices within the Orange Democratic Movement, warning that while minority opinions are respected, the party’s majority decisions will carry the day.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 11th, the Siaya Senator criticized some leaders for publicly contradicting ODM positions despite being members of the National Executive Council (NEC).

He emphasized that the NEC remains the party’s supreme decision‑making organ.

“If you have anything you disagree with, NEC is the forum to raise those issues and let members decide.”

“Once the members have decided and you fall into the minority, the minority will have their right to say, and the majority will have their way,” Oburu declared.

He cautioned leaders against hiding behind “personal opinions” to undermine collective resolutions, stressing that democracy does not mean chaos.

“ODM is like a club, and when you join one, you have to obey the rules of the club,” he reiterated.

Oburu further noted that ODM is focused on rebuilding itself into a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 elections.

While acknowledging the party’s current pact with UDA under the broad‑based Government, he clarified that the arrangement does not automatically translate into an electoral coalition.

“We are not in a hurry to say ‘Wantam’ or ‘Tutam.’ We are strengthening our party to prepare for negotiations.”

“If we do not agree with current partners, we will explore other formations, and if no agreement is reached, we will go forward alone as ODM,” he said.

His remarks come amid a growing rebellion within ODM, with youthful legislators such as Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino, and Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna rallying behind a faction dubbed Linda Mwananchi.

The group has openly opposed ODM’s collaboration with President William Ruto’s UDA, arguing that the partnership undermines the party’s independence and grassroots agenda.
