Friday, January 16, 2026 - Social media has erupted after officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU), deployed to curb cattle rustling, were captured on camera assaulting youths at a pool table joint in Nandi.
According to sources, the officers, allegedly from Tindiret and recently posted to Chemase to
handle cattle rustling cases, were
seen attacking young men without provocation.
Nine out of the fifteen victims went to Nandi Hills Police
Station to record statements and lodge formal complaints over the assault.
Sources indicate that at the time of the incident, the
Officer Commanding Station (OCS) was on leave.
The Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) is expected to issue a comprehensive statement addressing the incident and outlining the next steps.
The
disturbing video has since circulated widely on social media, sparking public
outrage and condemnation.
