Senator KHALWALE reveals number of staff members attached to his office who lost jobs after his removal as Senate Majority Whip

Monday, December 08, 2025 - Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has revealed that six staff members attached to his office lost their jobs following his removal as Senate Majority Whip.

According to Khalwale, the positions were tied to the Majority Whip’s office and were terminated immediately after his exit.

He listed the affected staff as his Personal Assistant, Principal Research Officer, Secretary, Office Assistant, Office Messenger and Driver.

“The office includes support staff, so they have run out of a job. Six young people have lost their jobs,” Khalwale said.

He clarified that the employees were hired by the Parliamentary Service Commission and their departure was part of normal parliamentary procedure.

“They are employed by the Parliamentary Service Commission; it is nothing personal because the person who took over from me comes in with his own staff,” he added.

Khalwale was removed from the Majority Whip position on Tuesday, December 2nd. Senate Speaker Amason Kingi announced the changes after receiving official communication from the Majority Party.

Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli was named as his replacement.

The reshuffle has been widely interpreted as a disciplinary measure against Khalwale, who opposed UDA candidate, David Ndakwa, in the Malava by‑election.

Ndakwa won the November 27th poll with 21,564 votes, narrowly defeating DAP‑K’s Seth Panyako, who garnered 20,210.

After the election, Khalwale rejected the results, alleging widespread irregularities including violence, intimidation and voter bribery.

“The killings, widespread violence, roaming armed goons escorted by police, intimidation and voter bribery erased any claim to a democratic election,” he stated.

He further warned of growing collusion between criminal groups and security forces, cautioning that such trends could undermine Kenya’s democratic process ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
