2025 - Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria, has unveiled
Makadara Member of Parliament, George Aladwa, as his running mate in the 2027
Nairobi gubernatorial race.
In a social media post, Kuria shared a campaign poster
featuring himself alongside the outspoken ODM legislator, declaring their joint
bid for City Hall.
Kuria explained that his decision to team up with Aladwa was
driven by their shared concern for Nairobi residents and the challenges facing
the capital.
He insisted that the partnership was not about tribal or
party affiliations but about leadership and service.
“Not because of our tribes. Not because of our parties.
Because we care for Nairobi. Because we understand what Nairobians are going
through. Because we have local, regional and global networks to fix Nairobi.”
“Because we have many years of combined leadership and
managerial experience.”
“Because we are not tribal. Because we have what it takes to
make Nairobi work again,” Kuria stated.
Aladwa, however, is yet to publicly confirm whether he will
deputise Kuria in the race.
The ODM MP is among several politicians who have already
expressed interest in succeeding Governor Johnson Sakaja in 2027.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions and we have sampled a few.
