Friday, December 19, 2025 - Law enforcement officers in Meru have arrested Mwenda, a suspect notorious for impersonating police officers and terrorising members of the public in Imenti North Sub-County.
The
arrest was made possible following crucial tip-offs from members of the public,
which enabled officers to act swiftly and track down the suspect.
Mwenda
was apprehended while in possession of a numberless motorcycle believed to have
been used to conduct criminal activities.
Upon
conducting a search, officers recovered several suspicious items from his
possession, including a military jacket, a military knee pad, a military hat, a
camel bag, and a dagger.
Authorities
say the recovered items were allegedly used by the suspect to pose as a law
enforcement officer while carrying out his activities.
Mwenda
is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his
arraignment in court.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing as officers work to establish the full extent of his activities and whether he acted alone.
