SHOCK as body of a middle-aged woman is found in a river tied to a stone in Homa Bay and husband arrested - “We never thought it would come to this”

Monday, November 10, 2025 - Shock and sorrow gripped residents of Kawino Sub-location in South Kasipul Ward, Homa Bay County, after the body of a middle-aged woman was discovered in a nearby river.

The body was tied to a stone and bore signs of a violent assault.

The victim, identified as Orpah Adhiambo, was reportedly in a troubled marriage.

Her husband, Manase Ongaro, has been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations into the suspected murder.

According to neighbors, the couple had a history of frequent domestic disputes, often centered around accusations of infidelity.

“They argued almost every week. The man kept accusing his wife of being unfaithful.”

“We never thought it would come to this,” said one visibly shaken resident.

Local leaders and women’s rights advocates have condemned the killing, calling for urgent community action to address the rising cases of domestic violence.

“No misunderstanding should ever end in death.”

“Families must seek counseling and help before it’s too late,” urged Mary Atieno, a vocal advocate from Kasipul.

The body has been moved to Oyugis Sub-County Hospital mortuary as detectives continue to piece together the events leading to the tragic death.
