Tuesday, November 18, 2025 - City lawyer, Donald Kipkorir, has weighed in on the dramatic confrontation between former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his son-in-law.
The incident unfolded when Sonko’s daughter called her
mother in distress, claiming that her husband had slapped her during a minor
disagreement over breakfast.
Sonko rushed to her home, insisting that no parent can sit
still when their child is hurting.
In the heated exchange that followed, the outspoken former Governor
confronted his son-in-law, disclosing that he pays the couple’s rent, buys
groceries, covers school fees for their children, and even purchased a Range
Rover for them.
Following the revelations, Kipkorir took to social media to
give his two cents.
He argued that a man whose financial responsibilities are
entirely met by his in-laws ceases to be a husband, instead becoming what he
termed a “manny” - a male househelp.
“If by marrying a rich girl, her parents gift you a house,
pay rent, give you a car, and cover bills, then you aren’t a HUSBAND but a
MANNY,” Kipkorir tweeted.
He added that such a man has no moral authority to raise his hand or voice against his partner.
