MP ERIC WAMUMBI gushes over his wife, MP BETTY MAINA, on second wedding anniversary - "GACHAGUA said their marriage won't last six months"

Tuesday, November 18, 2025 - Mathira MP, Eric Wamumbi, has penned a heartfelt anniversary message to his wife, Murang’a Woman Representative Betty N. Maina, as the couple celebrates two years of marriage.

In a touching tribute, Wamumbi described Betty as his “greatest treasure” and “most cherished blessing,” declaring that it will always be the two of them “against the world.”

“Happy anniversary, my beautiful Betty Maina.”

“You are my greatest treasure, my most cherished blessing.”

“Here’s to the woman who has my heart, now and forever.”

“Always us against the world!” Wamumbi’s message reads in part.

The two tied the knot on November 18th, 2023, in a vibrant traditional wedding in Kigumo, Murang’a County.

Since going public with their romance in 2022, the first‑term MPs have remained in the spotlight, often sharing affectionate moments that resonate with Kenyans.

Last year, Betty claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had predicted that their marriage wouldn’t last six months, a remark she said deeply hurt her.

She revealed this while supporting Gachagua’s impeachment motion but they are still going strong two years later.

"We have been insulted, threatened and humiliated. On his way to my dowry and the night prior, he (Gachagua) said unpalatable and venomous things that broke me completely.”

“He even bet my marriage wouldn't last for 6 months, yet I had trusted him," Maina added.
