Sunday, October 19, 2025 - A quiet family feud played out during the burial of the late opposition leader, Raila Odinga, after his late son, Fidel Odinga’s wife, Lwam Bekele, and their son, Allay Raila, were conspicuously absent from the high-profile event.
During the ceremony, Raila’s wife, Mama Ida Odinga,
introduced their grandchildren to mourners but noted that Allay, Fidel’s only
son, was missing.
Sources close to the family revealed that Lwam deliberately
skipped the ceremony with her son due to her strained relationship with Mama
Ida, a rift that dates back to a bitter dispute over Fidel’s
multimillion-shilling estate.
After a lengthy court battle, Lwam secured full control and
ownership of three of Fidel’s four properties, while their son, Allay,
inherited the fourth along with a substantial cash settlement.
Fidel married Lwam in 2012 in a private ceremony, and the
couple welcomed their son, Allay Raila, in 2013.
