Monday, August 4, 2025 - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has dismissed a letter circulating on social media claiming that Siaya Governor James Orengo has resigned.
In a statement released on Monday, August 4th,
the party branded the letter as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
“We can authoritatively state that the letter below is fake.
Ignore it and focus,” ODM stated via its official platforms.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation over
Governor Orengo’s whereabouts, as he has maintained a notably low public
profile in recent weeks.
Concerns have emerged online, with some users questioning
his health and political silence.
His official social media accounts have only shared updates
related to Siaya County Government activities, with no personal or political
engagements featured.
Orengo’s last personal post was on July 25th,
when he and his wife, Betty Orengo, visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. K.V. Rao.
Governor Orengo, 74, is currently serving his first term
after being elected on an ODM ticket in the 2022 General Elections.
He previously served as Siaya Senator for two terms.
Orengo has also stood out as a vocal critic of the
Ruto-Raila political pact, insisting that genuine constitutional and governance
reforms must precede any political agreement.
