Jubilee SG JEREMIAH KIONI aims jab at GACHAGUA as he warns impeached leaders against misleading Kenyans

Wednesday, August 27, 2025 - Jubilee Party Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, has cautioned that impeached leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cannot legitimately mobilise political support, warning that such actions only serve to mislead citizens.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, Kioni underscored the need for robust civic education, arguing that many Kenyans still lack a clear understanding of what impeachment entails.

“If we had proper civic education, we would understand what impeachment means.”

“Once impeached, you cannot start galvanising people behind you, because you would only be misleading them.”

“The Constitution has already declared you unfit to hold public office or to lead people in any direction,” Kioni stressed.

He further praised the 2010 Constitution, describing it as a powerful safeguard against abuse of power by the Executive.

Kioni urged Kenyans to both celebrate and fully understand the Constitution to make maximum use of its provisions.

“If it weren’t for the 2010 Constitution, with the kind of Executive we have today, we would be worse off than we are now,” he said.

Kioni’s remarks were widely interpreted as targeting Gachagua, who, despite being impeached, continues to rally support ahead of the 2027 elections and has branded himself the Mt. Kenya political kingpin.

Meanwhile, Jubilee has endorsed former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i as its presidential flagbearer to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.

  1. What of those indicted by the ICC? We saw two of them mobilize people and eventually got elected. Tell us about them and the law. We know your agenda bwana Kioni. Try and mobilize the people as well and teach them civics
