Wednesday, April 9, 2025 - Dramatic videos showing two female MPs engaged in a physical fight on parliamentary grounds have shocked the nation and sparked social media outrage.
On Tuesday April 8th, 2025, ODM-nominated MP
Umulkher Harun Mohamed and UDA’s East African Legislative Assembly (EALA)
representative, Falhada Iman, were caught on camera in a full-blown scuffle
that saw them wrestle each other to the ground as colleagues rushed to
intervene.
The embarrassing videos - now widely shared online - have drawn
sharp criticism, with many questioning the maturity and decorum of elected
leaders.
Umulkher later broke her silence in a heartfelt apology
posted online:
“Today, an unfortunate incident occurred… a situation I
deeply regret both as a Member of Parliament and as a mother,” she wrote.
Umulkher claimed she was “blindsided” by her EALA colleague,
accusing her of harboring longstanding grievances and coming to Parliament
“with the sole intention of attacking me.”
She emphasized her commitment to respectful conduct,
especially as a Muslim woman, and expressed remorse for the public fallout.
As of now, Falhada Iman has remained silent, leaving many
curious about her side of the story.
