Tuesday July 30, 2024 - Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has hinted at more ODM appointments in President William Ruto’s Government after the nomination of 4 ODM bigwigs to the Cabinet.
This is after it emerged that Ruto was planning to sack his
Permanent Secretaries and replace them with Raila Odinga’s allies in ODM.
In a statement to ODM, Junet told the party’s members to
prepare to be appointed to senior Government positions after their leader Raila
Odinga partnered with Ruto.
"Some of our people have joined the Government and more
people will go that direction," Junet Mohamed stated,
However, he reassured the public that the MPs remain
steadfast in their commitment to ODM.
"As MPs, we are still in ODM standing with the people
and we will do what the people want," he emphasized.
At the same time, Junet made it clear that accountability
remains a priority for ODM, even for those who have transitioned into Government
roles.
"If those who have left us and joined the government
fail to do what the people want, we will still put them to task. We are still
in ODM," he asserted.
Reflecting on the party's internal structure and leadership,
Junet Mohamed lauded Raila Odinga's role, asserting his unique position within
the political framework.
Despite some members' shift towards Government roles, the
legislator was unequivocal about the continuity and strength of ODM.
