Saturday, April 20, 2024 - Azimio One Kenya Alliance leader, Raila Odinga, has called for a speedy probe into the cause of the chopper crash which killed Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.
In a statement on Friday, Raila urged the government to expedite the probe into the
cause of the accident.
Raila
raised concerns about the state of helicopters and other equipment being used
by the security officers.
"Many
near-death encounters have occurred with the security aircrafts. We may never
know what exactly brought down the helicopter in which the general died,"
Raila said.
"It is our prayer that this tragedy may mark the beginning of a serious relook into our security equipment, especially the aircrafts with a view to undertaking a complete overhaul and modernisation of the equipment.
"That was the General's
vision," he added.
According
to Raila, President William Ruto’s government owes Kenyans a thorough,
professional and transparent investigation into the deaths.
He
said, "Only such an investigation will put the family and the whole nation
at peace".
