We can’t breathe!! - GATHONI WAMUCHOMBA tells RUTO after Kenya Power increases Token prices to a record high

Sunday, January 14, 2024 - Githunguri Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has attacked President William Ruto’s government after it increased the prices of electricity tokens.

In the recent past, Kenyans have come out to share screenshots of the charges imposed on them by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).

Commenting on social media on Friday, Wamuchomba, who is a fierce critic of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance administration, cautioned that the high charges were likely to cause some businesses to grind to a halt.

"Uuuh, Kenya Power! Kenya Powerrrrrrrr we can’t breathe! KSh 500 gives me 14 units down from 21 units last year surely!

"Tutafunga hizi biashara jameni. (We shall close down these businesses)," Wamuchomba posted.

Kenya Power in a statement attributed the increase in electricity prices to the declining shilling against the US dollar, which is currently exchanging at an average rate of KSh 158.3 per dollar.
