Wednesday, January 17, 2024 - The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed fresh details about the murder of Meru political activist and blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper, who went missing on December 2, 2023, and was later found dead in River Mutonga.
According to DCI, Sniper's killers had attempted to conceal the murder by misleading the investigators and
disposing of his body in a remote location in Tharaka Nithi County.
The report reveals how an unnamed
individual, who had called Sniper for a meeting with a prominent politician,
tried to misdirect a detective by claiming that he was receiving treatment in
Kajiado, only to switch off his phone afterward.
The unnamed individual is one of
the close confidants of Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza and he is in
police custody.
Sniper, who was known for his satirical
videos, in which he either criticized or praised politicians, was allegedly
killed for criticizing Governor Kawira
His family, friends, and even
Meru politicians have demanded that the culprits be brought to book and the
motive behind the killing revealed.
Sniper is survived by his wife and
two young children.
