Tuesday, January 9, 2024 - President William Ruto is getting desperate and petty if a statement issued by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Chief, Philip Etale, is anything to go by.
In a
statement to Kenyans on Tuesday, Etale said that the Interior Ministry has
written disciplinary letters to Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs who met Kisii
County Governor, Simba Arati.
“This is serious, I thought the
Constitution says the National Govt and County Government are interdependent
under Article 6 (2).”
“Chiefs meeting Governor Simba
Arati has become a crime”, Etale lamented on his X handle.
One of the Chiefs who requested
anonymity, confirmed receipt of the letter from the Interior Ministry and
wondered why they are opposed to local administrators attending the Governor’s
development meetings.
The chief said the meeting they
attended was about development matters like the mass distribution of mosquito
nets and bursary disbursement.
