Tuesday, January 16, 2024 - Former Meru County Governor, Kiraitu Murungi, has broken his long silence after he was linked to the murder of Meru-based blogger, Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper, in December last year.
Muthiani
went missing on December 2, 2023, before his body was found in a thicket on the
banks of Mutonga River in Tharaka Nithi County on December 16.
On Monday,
Meru Governor, Kawira Mwangaza, who is among the prime suspects in the murder, stated that Kiraitu should be questioned for parading Muthiani’s body at Mau Stadium on January 13, 2024.
Kiraitu in
reaction said it pained him to see the governor link him with the barbaric murder and urged her to know how to
deal with her problems and stop dragging his name into her woes.
“We call upon the police to carry out thorough investigations to ensure that justice is served.
"I retired from politics and I don't want to be dragged into it.
"For
Kawira what I would like to tell her is that she is in the kitchen of politics
and she has to endure all the smoke and learn how to deal with it,” Kiraitu
said.
