KAMWENE outfit under the leadership of KARUA and KIONI is a tribal outfit and its leaders are spent cartridges – MAKAU MUTUA says

Friday, January 12, 2024 - Azimio One Kenya Alliance spokesman, Prof. Makau Mutua, has defended Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his recent remarks on the Kamwene faction within the opposition coalition.

Speaking on Friday, Mutua said the people attacking Kalonzo over the 'tribal outfit' have no power to influence.

He went on to say that Kenya can only be liberated by working together as a unit.

"Those attacking Kalonzo Musyoka for criticizing their tribal outfit are spent forces. Kenya’s salvation doesn’t lie in the “tribe” but in forging a common national zeitgeist," Mutua said on X.

Kamwene is a group that brings together leaders from the Mount Kenya region who support the Opposition coalition, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

Makau Mutua has also been critical of the Kamwene outfit, terming it an ethnic entity.

In an interview with one of the local dailies on Tuesday, Kalonzo said Kamwene is an idea that is dead on arrival.

He said that the group was a terrible political philosophy.

He advised the group led by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni to drop the idea and work together as Azimio.
