 – Former Rangers star, Dapo Mebude has been rushed to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a car crash.

According to Belgian publication, GVA, the incident took place on Sunday morning as the striker was travelling to a practice match for Belgian second-tier side KV Oostende.

Mebude is said to have been travelling near Zedelgem towards Brussels when his car veered off the road and crashed into a tree at around 9am.

Firefighters rescued the 22-year-old from his car and he was subsequently rushed to hospital in Bruges where, according to Belgian police, he remains in critical condition.

'It is not clear how the accident could have happened,' the federal highway police said according to GVA.

'The public prosecutor's office has appointed a traffic expert to investigate the precise circumstances of the accident.'

Mubude spent a decade at Ibrox, after first joining the club's youth system at just ten years old.

The Scottish youth international was handed his senior debut at the club by Steven Gerrard when he came on as a substitute on the final day of the season against Kilmarnock in 2019.

After departing Ibrox when his contract expired in 2021, Medube joined Watford and was subsequently loaned to AFC Wimbledon where he made 32 appearances in all competitions.
