Saturday, August 08, 2026 - Award‑winning Kenyan actor Melvin Alusa has given netizens a glimpse into his life as a single father of seven.
Speaking on the Netwalking Show with Jacquey
Nyaminde, popularly known as Wilbroda, Alusa, who is singer Bien’s brother, painted
a vivid picture of the challenges that come with managing a large household,
particularly during grooming.
“Jana nilikuwa
nawakata makucha, nikafika mtoto wa 3 na bado niko na 4 nafaa niendelee kuanzia
saa moja. Hizo ni vidole 10 za mikono na vidole 10 za miguu na watoto ni 7.
Hapo ninakuwa nadeal na vidole 140,” he recounted.
Though some of his older children have since moved out,
Alusa still handles grooming for the younger four.
By the time he finishes the last child, he joked, the first
one is often messy again.
“Kibarua ingine ngumu ni kama siku zile za grooming when I
am taking my boys to kinyozi and my girls to salon, that’s an entire weekend I
dedicate to their grooming.”
Beyond parenting, Alusa reflected on the struggles that
followed his stint on Big Brother Africa.
Despite the fame, work was scarce, and he faced eviction
three times.
"Your value goes up in people's heads and minds,"
he said. "We can't afford him. He's come from Big Brother. He's too
expensive."
His marriage later ended, leaving him as the primary
guardian.
At the time, his youngest twins were just one, the next set
three, and the others seven, nine, and ten.
