Monday, August 31, 2026 - Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati is mourning following the brutal murder of his nephew, Derrick, who was reportedly killed by unknown people.

Taking to social media, Wangamati shared a photo of Derrick and sent a condolence message to his brother, Denis Wangamati, who serves as an Officer Commanding Station (OCS).

“The pain is unfathomable and real. Losing such a young and promising student is heartbreaking and difficult to comprehend.

“My brother Denis Wangamati, pole sana for the loss of your beloved son. 

"My nephew Derrick, your life was far too short, but your memory will forever remain in our hearts. 

"May Derrick’s soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.

The late Derrick was reportedly about to complete his university studies before his life was tragically cut short.

His death has left family and friends mourning, with Wangamati expressing his pain over the loss of his young nephew.
