Monday, May 04, 2026 - Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino, has stirred the political waters after boldly declaring that the Linda Mwananchi presidential candidate in 2027 will only serve for one term.
Speaking on Monday, May 4th, the outspoken
legislator revealed that the movement’s plan is to pave way for his own
presidential bid in 2032, which he described as the “ripe time” for him to take
over the country’s leadership.
Babu explained that his immediate focus is on Nairobi
County, where he intends to vie for Governor in 2027.
However, he insisted that whoever carries the Linda
Mwananchi flag in the presidential race must step aside after one term to allow
him to contest for the top seat.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God. As of today, I am
focused on Nairobi, but in 2032, get used to your president early enough,”
he said.
He further hinted that Linda Mwananchi could soon transform
into a fully fledged political party, distancing himself from ODM, which he
dismissed as “a lemon, not an orange anymore.”
He confirmed that he will not run under ODM or as an
independent candidate.
Addressing questions about his past controversies, Babu
admitted that the DJ Evolve shooting incident could have landed him in jail,
but argued that he faced the law through what he termed as “reconstructive
justice.”
He disclosed spending nearly Ksh70 million on the
entertainer’s recovery, financed partly through loans.
