President RUTO weighs on former CS RAPHAEL TUJU’s woes, advises him how to save his multi-million estate amid action drama

Tuesday, March 24, 2026 - President William Ruto has spoken out on the troubles facing former Rarieda MP and ex-Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, who is currently hospitalized after his dramatic arrest.

Tuju, who had been reported missing on Saturday, March 21st, resurfaced two days later, claiming that he went into hiding after realizing he was being trailed.

His explanation contradicted earlier fears of abduction.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) accused him of staging the disappearance to attract sympathy amid a dispute with the East African Development Bank (EADB), which is seeking to recover a loan tied to his Karen property.

Opposition leaders, led by Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, accused the state of persecuting Tuju.

However, President Ruto, speaking in Siaya on Tuesday, March 24th, dismissed their involvement as opportunistic.

“They have gone to mislead Tuju. They told him to hide in his bedroom and then claim he had been abducted.”

“Tuju needs honest friends and advice to be helped. He doesn’t need scavengers who are trying to exploit the misfortune of a citizen.”

“They are looking for popularity through someone’s predicament.”

“Tuju should be advised and helped to save his property so that he can move forward,” Ruto said.

The president further criticized opposition leaders for dragging former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name into the saga.

“Tuju doesn’t need those frauds; they have even gone ahead to drag Uhuru Kenyatta’s name into the mud.”

“They are not helping Tuju,” he added.

Tuju was admitted to The Karen Hospital after spending a night at Karen Police Station.

He had been scheduled for arraignment at the Kibera Law Courts, but the process was halted due to his health condition.

He faces charges of furnishing false information to police after a missing person’s report was filed while he was allegedly hiding at home.
