Radio host ALEX MWAKIDEU reveals what is fueling the use of blue pills in Kenya after popular LUO journalist died while having 'mechi'

Monday, December 22, 2025 - Radio personality, Alex Mwakideu, has sparked debate after linking everyday lifestyle choices to the growing dependence on blue pills.

Speaking on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, he warned that fried foods, chips, lack of exercise, and alcohol are quietly undermining health and fueling the problem.

“Wachana na kuku fry na chips, hizo ndio zinafanya unazembea na kutegemea blue pills. Na wanahitaji booster. Sielewi ndungu yangu.”

“Ni lifestyle? Mimi naona ni lifestyle. I think ni lifestyle, it’s the lifestyle we are living,” Mwakideu said, stressing how unhealthy habits are taking a toll.

He explained that modern convenience has stripped away natural movement.

“Chakula kiko ndani, mazoezi hamna, kutembea sana hakuko. Wajua tunaishi katika generation… ukishuka pipeline katika maeneo yako unapatana na boda boda, hautembei,” he noted.

According to Mwakideu, reliance on boda bodas and matatus means many Kenyans barely walk, while deep-fried meals and alcohol compound the issue.

“Unapanda boda boda… unakula chips, unakula sijui deep fried, roho yako imejaa na mafuta. Na unakua mtu tu ovyo, na kulewa sana,” he explained.

Mwakideu further cautioned about the dangers of fake alcohol flooding neighborhoods.

“Ubaya ni kwamba iko kinywaji kuna fake nyingi sana. So watu wanakunywa vinywaji vichafu sana hapa nje.”

“Na ndio vinauzwa mingi mtaani,” he added.

This warning comes shortly after the shocking death of popular Luo journalist, Festus Amimo, head of KBC’s Mayienga FM, who collapsed in a Nairobi hotel while with a woman.

Reports suggest he used blue pills before his sudden death, a tragedy that has intensified conversations around lifestyle, health, and reliance on supplements.
