Tourism CS REBECCA MIANO speaks as Kenya is crowned World’s Friendliest Country

Tuesday, October 14, 2025 - Kenya has been named the world’s friendliest country in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards by Condé Nast Traveller, earning a top score of 98.46.

The prestigious recognition places Kenya ahead of nine other nations celebrated for their hospitality and warmth.

In its announcement, Condé Nast highlighted Kenya’s exceptional safari experiences, praising the country’s tour guides for making visitors feel safe and welcome - even in the wild.

“The ‘Big Five’ animals usually take centre stage here, but behind each lovely Kenyan safari, there’s a whole host of even lovelier guides who make you feel completely at ease, even when meters away from a prowling lion,” the report noted.

Nairobi was also commended for its vibrant nightlife, while Kenya’s coastal regions were celebrated for their luxurious resorts and serene white-sand beaches.

Reacting to the news, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano expressed pride in the nation’s achievement.

Posting on her official X account on October 14th, she wrote, “This recognition is a powerful testament to the genuine warmth, exceptional hospitality, and welcoming nature of the Kenyan people - from our expert safari guides to our coastal communities and youth-driven hospitality industry.”

She added, “This recognition belongs to every single Kenyan whose warmth and spirit make our destination truly magical. The heart of Magical Kenya is our people. Karibu Kenya!”

The award is expected to boost Kenya’s global tourism appeal and reinforce its reputation as a top travel destination.
