2025 - President William Ruto turned heads once again with a high-stakes
livestock purchase at the Nairobi International Trade Fair on Wednesday,
October 1st, 2025.
The Head of State placed the top bid of Ksh700,000 for a
720-kilogram Borana bull, securing it unchallenged during the auction held at
the ASK Jamhuri Showground.
Ruto was joined by Agriculture CS, Mutahi Kagwe, and Nairobi
Governor, Johnson Sakaja, both of whom also participated in the bidding.
Earlier, Ruto lost out on two bulls to Sakaja and
Agriculture PS Paul Ronoh, who placed higher bids.
This comes just weeks after Ruto made headlines in Mombasa
for buying a prized Chianina bull at Ksh1 million, outbidding Governor
Abdulswamad Nassir and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi in a tense auction.
The President had initially lost out on three bulls before
clinching the final round with the record-breaking bid.
The Nairobi trade fair, running from September 29th to October 5th, has attracted exhibitors showcasing innovations in agriculture, livestock, and trade.
