Wednesday, October 1, 2025 - A heartfelt moment unfolded in a Nairobi courtroom when Magistrate Ben Ekhubi paused proceedings to check on a remandee’s well-being.
Nelson Muriithi, alias Kidero, appeared frail and struggled
to speak during his case mention, prompting Ekhubi to ask about his well-being.
“Niko njaa,” Muriithi responded candidly, leading the
magistrate to offer to buy him bread and milk before the next hearing.
The light-hearted exchange took a humorous turn when
Muriithi tried calculating the cost, saying, “One packet of milk is supposed to
be Sh60… not the percentage,” sparking laughter in court.
Ekhubi handed a police officer Sh500 to cover the meal, a
gesture that earned widespread admiration online.
Muriithi is facing charges of trespassing into Bunge Towers
while allegedly searching for his “13 wives.”
He had previously claimed President William Ruto was his
father but later pleaded not guilty.
When asked about bail, he opted to return to Kamiti Prison,
where he had served a prior sentence.
Ekhubi ordered a mental health evaluation, with the accused
set to be taken to hospital on October 1st.
The case will be mentioned again on October 9, 2025.
