GACHAGUA’s lawyer, NDEGWA NJIRU, links ghost schools to President RUTO’s plot to rig 2027 elections

Thursday, September 18, 2025 - Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has accused President William Ruto’s administration of using ghost schools as part of a covert strategy to manipulate the 2027 General Elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, Njiru questioned the Ministry of Education’s admission of ghost students while denying the existence of ghost schools, calling the move politically calculated.

“Surprisingly, the Ministry of Education has only acknowledged the existence of ghost students but denied the existence of ghost schools.”

“Is it because Kasongo must maintain these ghost schools as strategic polling centres for the 2027 elections?” Njiru posed, suggesting that the phantom learners must be registered somewhere - likely in these fictitious institutions.

His remarks followed revelations by Basic Education Principal Secretary, Julius Bitok, who confirmed that the ongoing school data verification exercise had uncovered thousands of ghost learners.

The Ministry now estimates a potential 10 per cent drop in the total number of students nationwide.

Critics have blasted the Government for allegedly funding non-existent schools while neglecting genuine institutions in need.

Recently, Njiru linked the recent lifting of ID vetting in border counties to a broader electoral scheme.

He alleged that the move could enable mass registration of non-citizens, inflating voter rolls in favour of the ruling party.
