18, 2025 - Acting on intelligence, Samburu detectives have apprehended
20-year-old Christopher Ayok Lemarkele, a suspect in a series of violent
robbery incidents in Maralal town and its surroundings.
Lemarkele, armed with an AK-47 rifle and accompanied by an
accomplice who remains at large, brazenly stormed a local shop in Maralal.
Posing as ordinary customers, the duo quickly turned the
situation deadly when they drew firearms, aiming them directly at the cashier.
In a moment of courage, the cashier managed to push the
weapon away, but not before Lemarkele fired a shot, resulting in a bullet
grazing her left breast and inflicting a painful soft tissue injury.
The cashier was rushed to the Samburu County Referral
Hospital, where she received treatment and was discharged.
Following the incident, in which the assailants made off
with Sh50,000, a manhunt was launched.
Thanks to diligent detective work and intelligence leads,
detectives managed to smoke out Lemarkele from his hideout, leading to his
arrest.
Upon his arrest, detectives uncovered a trove of
incriminating evidence, including a green jungle hat, a smoke jacket, a jungle
green jacket, and a jungle belt, among other items.
Currently, Lemarkele is in custody, undergoing processing
and awaiting his day in court.
Meanwhile, detectives are hot on the trail of his remaining accomplice, determined to bring all those involved to justice.
