Thursday, September 11, 2025 - Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor has confirmed that slain Nairobi lawyer Kyalo Mbobu sustained eight gunshot wounds.
Speaking on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, after
conducting the post-mortem, Oduor revealed that two bullets were recovered
during the procedure, including one lodged in Mbobu’s left arm.
These have been handed over to investigators for ballistic
analysis.
Oduor noted that the gunshots caused extensive internal
damage, particularly to the neck vessels and spine, resulting in fatal
bleeding.
“There was a lot of bleeding and injury to the neck and
spine,” he said, adding that gunpowder burns on Mbobu’s skin confirmed the
shots were fired at close range.
Despite multiple entry wounds, the chest cavity remained
intact, suggesting that the assailants targeted specific areas with precision.
The findings paint a grim picture of an execution-style
killing, leaving little chance of survival.
Mbobu was ambushed in a drive-by shooting, in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 9th, with the attackers fleeing on a
motorcycle, according to initial police reports.
His death has sparked national outrage, given his prominence
in the legal field and the violent nature of the attack.
