Suspected drug trafficker runs over spike barrier during a dramatic roadblock operation in Kakamega - Abandons a motorbike and escapes on foot (PHOTOs)



Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Police officers in Kakamega County intercepted a motorcycle transporting 25kg of Cannabis Sativa during a dramatic roadblock operation.

The operation was mounted by officers from Matungu Police Station, following an alert from their counterparts at Koyonzo Police Station.

According to reports, the suspect was flagged down at the roadblock but defied the order to stop, speeding past officers and running over a spike barrier.

His motorcycle tyre was punctured, forcing him to abandon the motorbike a few metres away before escaping on foot.

Upon inspection, officers discovered 25kg of Cannabis Sativa concealed on the motorcycle.

Both the drugs and the motorcycle were seized and have been impounded pending further police action.

A manhunt for the suspect has since been launched.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers for their swift response and dedication, noting that the fight against drugs and illicit substances remains a top priority in safeguarding communities.
