Monday, March 24, 2025 - Last evening, an attempt by two hoodlums to rob a Kajiado petrol station over Sh 1.2 million worth of diesel ended in futility after a keen pump attendant detected their scheme.
At 4pm, an Isuzu NPR tanker pulled over at Sajjy Petrol
Station located in Kajiado's Oloililai Sub-County within Bisil township, where
the two occupants posing as men of means sought to draw 6,000 litres of diesel.
Pretending to be in constant communication with the owner of
the petrol station, the two alleged to have already paid Sh 1.2 million
directly to the bank account of the 'boss', given the amount involved.
Without disputing the proof of payment provided, the
attendant went ahead to initiate the process, but excused himself briefly after
pumping about 100 litres.
He made a call to his boss, who confirmed his fears.
Neither such payment had been made nor was there any such
arrangement.
Maintaining his calm, the attendant beckoned his colleagues
with a signature alert, who pounced on the two and alerted the police.
Police officers arrived to find the two cushy life-seekers
securely restrained, who had since been encouraged to identify themselves.
A petrified Boniface Karanja, 32 and his 54-year-old
accomplice, Daniel Kimani, were re-arested, and their vehicle registration
number KCC 312G detained.
Further grilling revealed that the two had traveled from
Nairobi, and belonged to a bigger syndicate that is now targeting petrol
stations in smaller towns.
Further investigations is ongoing.
