Saturday, July 20, 2024 - Siaya County Governor James Orengo has criticized plans for dialogue between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Friday during the burial of Kevin Ochieng'
Onyango in Alego Usonga Constituency, Orengo insisted that justice must be
served before any dialogue can take place.
The veteran politician urged the political class
to put aside their interests and ensure the victims of police brutality during
anti-government protests get justice.
"I am saying, putting aside even my position as governor, that justice must be done.
"We cannot kill our people and
the time when we are mourning them we are looking for offices.
“That cannot happen! We must first deal with the
injustice before we can deal with questions that arise out of that injustice.
“I am praying that Kenyans will listen to the
voices of mothers; like Mama Kevin, to see that justice is done," Orengo
said.
Kevin was shot dead by the police during the
peaceful nationwide anti-government protests in Siaya County.
