Monday, January 8 2024 - The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has come out to clarify claims that Nyambaria High School from Nyamira County topped the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
A Facebook
post that was put up on Monday claimed that the school achieved a mean grade of A (plain) and was leading
nationally.
However, in a statement on Monday,
KNEC dismissed these claims and claimed that the post was fake.
Despite dismissing the results,
KNEC did not reveal the top school but called upon students to check their
results on the portal, results.knec.ac.ke.
Following
the announcement of the 2023 KCSE results, schools, students, and parents
across the country were seen celebrating the outcomes.
In the
results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu revealed that out of the
903,138 students registered, 3,685 did not sit for the exams.
450,675
female and 452,463 male students were registered for the national exams.
