Thursday, August 6, 2026 - Fresh details have emerged about missing Mlolongo "businessman" Jimmy Mwanzia, who was captured on CCTV being abducted by armed men believed to be police officers shortly after meeting a senior police officer at a local entertainment joint.
Although Mwanzia presented himself as a businessman, sources
claim he ran a powerful gang linked to land grabbing and extortion in Mlolongo
and its surrounding areas.
The gang is said to have demanded money from lorry drivers
accessing quarries around Mlolongo, with those who refused facing intimidation.
Weeks before his disappearance, Mwanzia's gang is also
alleged to have attacked a surveyor, leaving him with serious injuries during a
confrontation over a disputed parcel of land that the gang had grabbed.
It is further alleged that Mwanzia enjoyed protection from rogue police officers and influential local leaders, including a governor, allowing his operations to continue unchecked.
Below is CCTV footage showing how he was abducted.
