Sunday, August 2, 2026 - Police officers in Siaya have arrested three suspects linked to the robbery of a small-scale gold trader who was lured into a trap on the pretext of selling gold.
According
to police, the victim was persuaded to meet the suspects in a secluded area on
the outskirts of Siaya Township, where they turned on him, attacking and
robbing him of cash, mobile phones, and other business-related items before
fleeing.
Following
a report lodged at Siaya Police Station, detectives launched investigations
that led to the arrest of the three suspects.
During
the operation, officers recovered the complainant's stolen mobile phone, a
motorcycle suspected to have been used during the robbery, a machete believed
to have been used in the attack, and several other mobile phones suspected to
be stolen.
The
suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Police have also launched a manhunt for other individuals believed to have participated in the robbery, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
