Thursday, July 23, 2026 - Members of the public were treated to a dramatic scene after armed plain-clothed police officers stormed a rented house in Mwiki in pursuit of a dangerous suspect believed to have been on the police radar.

Acting on intelligence, the officers cornered the suspect while armed with AK-47 rifles, with one officer pinning him to the ground.

“Lala chini,” the officer was heard ordering the suspect as a brief scuffle ensued.

His colleagues were seen cocking their guns, ready for any eventuality.

Locals watched from a distance as the operation unfolded, with some wailing and pleading with the officers not to shoot the suspect.

One of the officers involved in the operation was seen firing into the air to disperse the crowd that had gathered at the scene.

The suspect was eventually subdued and bundled into a police vehicle, which later sped off.

It is believed that the suspect has been involved in a series of armed robberies.
