2026 - Police are probing the mysterious death of a Kenya Defence Forces
(KDF) soldier whose body was discovered at her house on the outskirts of
Nairobi.
The soldier, identified as 44‑year‑old Elizabeth Wanjiru,
was attached to the Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters.
Her family raised an alarm after repeated calls went
unanswered, prompting relatives to force entry into her Juja home, Kiambu
County.
Inside, they found Wanjiru lying on a sofa in a pool of
blood, with visible marks on her face.
The house had been locked from the inside, deepening the
mystery.
Police and military officials have since launched a joint
inquiry to establish the cause of death.
Her body was transferred to the Defence Forces Memorial
Hospital Mashujaa Funeral Home, where a postmortem is expected.
Investigators say all possibilities remain open as they
piece together the circumstances.
