Monday, May 18, 2026 - There was drama in Ciumbu,
Murang’a County, after residents stormed a Police Station to reclaim water
tanks that had been confiscated following orders from area MP Mary Wamaua.
According to a social media user, the water tanks had been
donated to locals by a man identified as Maina, who is said to be a political
rival of the MP.
In a circulating online video, angry residents are seen
confronting authorities and demanding the immediate release of the tanks,
insisting that they were meant to help address water shortages in the area.
They chanted “Wantam” slogans to express their
dissatisfaction with Wamaua’s leadership.
The social media user who shared the clip accused the
legislator of acting out of political jealousy after Maina launched a community
water project that had gained public support.
“Hizi tanks ni Wamaua alisema zichukuliwe zipelekwe
polisi juu uyu jamaa anaitwa Maina anataka kuleta maji Ciumbu na yeye
alishindwa. Raiya wakaendea tanks na kuzirudisha,” the post read.
