Wednesday, April 22, 2026 - DCP Party Leader, Rigathi Gachagua, on Wednesday, April 22nd, took a swipe at President William Ruto, urging him to seek prayers from Pope Leo before returning home from Italy.
Speaking in Katutu, Kitui County, Gachagua claimed that the
Head of State needed divine intervention to change his character, accusing him
of pathologically lying and mistreating United Opposition leaders.
He told the crowd that Ruto should ask the Pope to pray for
him to stop sending police and goons to disrupt opposition gatherings and to
end orders for protesters to be shot.
“Do not leave Italy before visiting the Pope so that he
prays for you to stop or even reduce your lying,” Gachagua told the crowd.
He further urged Ruto to seek divine intervention to end
alleged police harassment of opposition supporters and orders for protesters to
be shot in the leg.
“But do you really think prayers can change him?” he posed
rhetorically.
Gachagua was accompanied by other United Opposition leaders,
including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former CS Justin Muturi, during the
Ukambani tour.
