2026 - A woman has shared a chilling experience she had while exploring a
scenic area around Kefri
Zambezi in Kikuyu, an outing that quickly turned into a
frightening escape.
According to her account, she had picked up her son from
school and decided to go on a small adventure after seeing several TikTok videos showcasing the beautiful
scenery in the area.
She said the location looked peaceful and ideal for
photography.
“Once you leave the tarmac road, you pass farmland, then
ahead you see well-manicured grounds with beautiful green grass, and beyond
that a forest of tall trees. It looked very serene and perfect for photos,” she
recalled.
She drove into the area and stopped on what appeared to be short grass, only to
later realize it was actually very
tall grass that created an illusion of being trimmed.
By then, she was already deep inside the field, about 500 meters from the forest.
After stepping out of the car, her son began taking photos
of her.
At the time, she was about
five months pregnant.
Moments later, she noticed a man walking towards them from
the direction of the main road.
“He was still at a distance but walking very fast.
Immediately I felt something was wrong. I got chills and sensed danger,” she
said.
Fear quickly took over as she began imagining worst-case
scenarios.
“I thought about being robbed or even killed. All I could
think about was getting back into the car and driving away,” she recalled.
She quickly grabbed her son and rushed back into the
vehicle, instructing him to lie
on the floor in the back seat in case the man was armed.
As she prepared to drive away, she noticed another man approaching from the
opposite side, while the first man appeared to be picking up his pace.
Panicked, she reversed the car and sped out of the area
despite the tall grass getting stuck underneath the vehicle.
“I have never driven that fast on a path with no proper
road,” she said, adding that she kept checking the rearview mirror while
shaking with fear.
When she finally reached the tarmac road, she accelerated so quickly
that the tyres produced smoke and did not stop until she reached Kikuyu town.
Months later, she was horrified to learn from a television
report that a woman had
been murdered in the same area, with authorities suspecting the
presence of a serial
killer operating around the location.
“To this day, I still get chills thinking about it,” she said.
