Tuesday, March 10, 2026 - A tragic incident has left family, friends, and the wider community in shock after a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer shot and killed his wife before taking his own life.
According to preliminary reports, KDF officer Daniel Mburu Kinyanjui, 25, and
Eunice Waruguru Kimani, 28,
were found dead following a shooting incident at the officer’s accommodation block at Kirimon KDF Camp,
Laikipia County, on Sunday at around 5:20 a.m.
The heartbreaking development came just a day after the couple had shared
romantic photos online, dressed
in matching outfits and appearing happy and deeply in love.
Reports indicate that the officer allegedly shot his wife following a domestic
dispute before turning the gun on himself.
Investigators who processed the scene recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 23 rounds of
7.62mm ammunition, believed to have been used in the incident.
Authorities also found six AK-47 magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds,
inside the room.
Additionally, officers recovered several personal items
including a hard-cover
exercise book containing an eight-page handwritten last testament believed to
belong to Daniel, two smartphones (Samsung and Tecno), a basic
“kabambe” phone, and other personal documents.
Preliminary findings indicate that the soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the
head while his wife had gunshot wounds on the left hand,
face and head.
The bodies were moved to Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary,
where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted.
The scene was processed by Military Police from Ngoisus Camp together with detectives
from the Laikipia North Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
as investigations continue.
The shocking incident has sparked reactions online, with
many people expressing disbelief given that the couple was fond of parading
PDAs on social media.
Below are photos of the deceased couple.
